Club News Thomasville Cookout Celebrates World Polio Day
Thomasville's Interact students join club members in a World Polio Day cookout
In October, the Thomasville Rotary Club hosted a cookout for the Interact Students in our community in recognition of World Polio Day. We had approximately 20 students join with 20 Rotarians, one Rotarian spouse and three Interact advisors who came out to cook, serve and “interact” with these local students. Several videos explaining polio along with our Guest Speaker local History Teacher, John Carter Skeen, kept the kids entertained while they enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and cookies. A fun trivia game at the end tested them to see if they were paying attention during the evening. They were invited to join us the next weekend as we paint a map of the United States at Harper Middle School.
